The good thing is that Dish developed their own plugin to play your content on Dish Anywhere. The bad thing is some dumb ass developer never bothered to beta test it or send it to anyone else. Dish Anywhere now comes up that a plugin is required to show content. There is a nice button to go and download the plugin. The plugin install package downloads fine but when you try to run it it gives you this message: “DISH Anywhere Video Player Installer.pkg” can’t be opened because it is from an unidentified developer.
DISH Anywhere Video Player Installer.pkg” is on the disk image “DISHAnywhereVideoPlayerInstaller2.7.1.dmg”. Firefox downloaded this disk image today at 9:33 AM. So they hired someone to write a viewer plugin that doesn't know what the heck code signing is on a MAC or IOS.
Without code signing or a certificate OSX will not allow an install of anything that Apple doesn't have identified as a registered developer. That one of the reason OSX is virus resistant. Can anyone else on a Mac (Mavericks) go to Dish Anywhere and see if they can duplicate the problem. Also in the bowels of Dish, how to I make an urgent Dumb Ass report? All they have to do it code sign it properly and just replace the package and we can then download it and install it. When you encounter any downloaded application that gives you the message of '.

Neither my Mac mini (Late 2012) MacOS Sierra 10.12.6 nor my Windows 10 PC -- both connected via WiFi to the same Asus RT-AC88u router, to which my Dish Hopper 2 with Sling is connected via Ethernet cable shows 'green' for receiver connection or can play DVR recordings.
An unidentified developer', etc., just right-click the app and select 'Open'. That would still give you the error dialog window you described, but with an additional option to 'Open' the app anyway. That would only happen the first time you open said app. You are literally giving your permission for the app to open every time from then on. Of course, you should be VERY, very sure of what it is that you are allowing to open. Be very aware that it is not of undetermined origin, malware, trojans, etc.
